-
- As has been stated by many people on this list, our goal is not to create
- a new standard; we are trying to merge the existing standard and expand
- it in new directions. What you are suggesting is a radical alteration
- of an exitsting (and accepted) standard, which is beyond the scope of
- the list (as Ofir has stated).
-
- When you place many people on a list, then try to get them to agree to
- something, there must be a meeting of opposing viewpoints. This can
- be done in a variety of ways, but threatening to leave the list if
- you do not get your own way is not one of them. I am sure that the
- upcoming standard will have aspects that I do not like. I WILL
- support it, though, because it will no doubt be better than the current
- standard (despite any problems I may have with it).
-
- You are not the only person on this list with a reputation to uphold;
- what about Ofir Gal, Annius Groenink, Ken Hollis, and the other
- programmers and professionals on this list? They are not telling you
- that they will leave the list because their ideas are being changed,
- rejected, or otehrwise mangled. I can only speak for myself, but I am
- willing to accept that my ideas are not the best ideas and work with
- the other people on this list to develop a good standard.
-
- I'll avoid flaming you, but I do have one last point; what about your
- reputation among the people on this list? I respect many of the people
- on this list for various reasons, and I would not want them to have a
- bad opinion of a) my programming, b) my professionalism, and c) myself.
-
- Your situation might be different, though. Perhaps we are not your
- peers? :)
